In this short video, IMDb tries to answer the question: where the hell was Batman?

Following the events of The Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, attempts to take the reins of Gotham’s underworld.. Aside from the Bat-signal in the closing shot of the season finale, we didn’t get a cameo from Robert Pattinson in The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to have his version of the Penguin smoke tobacco in The Batman (2022), but he failed.

In his own series, however, the character is portrayed as a casual tobacco user with a penchant for cigars.. An umbrella falls down and the logo changes to the Warner Bros. logo.

I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I never understood why they would put a thin, good-looking, buff actor in a giant prosthetic and fat suit… especially since I think he resembles other famous actors who would have been just as good. I also didn’t really understand why this spinoff came out, and to be honest, I’m just sick of Batman reboots.

But I didn’t expect to like it nearly as much

But after episode 1, I can confirm that this series is fantastic (so far). I only watched it because I knew it had to be seen as a bridge between the first and second films, and because I surprisingly liked Farrell in the role in the first one. The acting is terrific, the writing is excellent, and I was surprised with some quick twists.

I hope it continues this well, because I really can’t wait for the next installment

What I liked most was that there was so much more color here than in Batman. I noticed this almost immediately, as it was a major complaint about the film for me (it felt like I was watching it through the lens of Zack Snyder).
