Four kids make a mysterious discovery on their home planet that lands them lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Jude Law stars in "Skeleton Crew" plus more stars from a galaxy far, far away. The holographic circus that entertains Neel’s young siblings is the same as Chewbacca’s family hour in the infamous The Star Wars holiday special (1978).
And that’s a good thing, because Star Wars has often been kid-friendly, and why shouldn’t there be a Star Wars-themed kids’ show? But this isn’t a show about kids that’s adult-friendly, like Stranger Things or Paper Girls. This is more of a show designed specifically to appeal to ten-year-olds and no one else.
This is a suburb of the Star Wars universe, but take away the robots and aliens and I might as well have grown up here. So that was an interesting twist for a moment or two. Unfortunately, these suburbs are populated by boring characters with uninteresting problems.
And yes, this is all set up for the big moment at the end of the first episode, but I was so bored with the first episode that I started skipping ahead halfway through, and even the final action just felt like – hm. Maybe. But I feel like if the first episode of a show is so boring that I can’t sit through it, it probably won’t get much better anytime soon.
